Amazon Go:The Future of Shopping is Here !

The American company, Amazon is the pioneer of online shopping. The app and the website was really a fascination during the inception. Amazon's Drone Delivery system, is round the corner but its not done yet, after an year of beta testing it has come up with something called as 'Amazon Go'. It's first store has been opened up at 2131 7th Avenue, Seattle, Washington. As the name suggests now you wont have to waste your time in large checkout queues at supermarkets, with this Just walk out technology, your shopping experience is going to get a complete overhaul.

Redefining your shopping experience.

Now:
Imagine for a second, you storm into a mall on a hasty day, check in with your phone, grab a bite to eat, pick some groceries and walk out. It's that simple. A virtual receipt is sent to your phone once you walk out and deductions are made from your Amazon account. Amazon has fused deep learning algorithms and artificial intelligence for making all this possible.

You must be wondering!!
How do they know, who picks what and from where do they pick it?
All you need is an Amazon Go app which is signed in with your amazon account. When you arrive, you use the app to enter the store. Then just browse and shop like you would at any other store. Once you're done, you're ready to go! No lines, No checkout (Seriously, nothing) . The app gives you a QR code that you need to scan before entering, which helps the whole store to keep track of you and automatically make deductions from your account.

Once inside hundreds of cameras on the ceiling and electronic sensors follow your movements. The shelves are sensor enabled as well, perhaps these are weight based sensors that keep a count of your pickings. If you change your mind, just put what you picked back on the shelf, and your virtual cart will be adjusted accordingly. Changed your mind once again? Pick it back up, that item will again be added to your total bill, and you can keep doing this shamelessly.

This technology works like self driving cars, Tesla to name one , and computer vision, sensor
fusion and deep learning algorithms.

Shopper Lisa Doyle told the Associated Press after trying out the new store she says its almost weird because you feel like you're stealing when you go out the door.

All the products that you chose are recorded and stored as well, so that if
you pick something and the cameras somehow miss it, the machine will guess what you picked
using your previous purchases and your location in the store.
That, is however a hit on consumer privacy protection. Owing to such little issues although, last year the online marketer bought U.S. based- Whole Foods Market, giving them 470 stores, but Amazon says it has no immediate plans of adding this to the complex whole foods market.

If you look at the following products, you can see they're super similar, One had light cream added, while the other was coffee with no cream or sugar. But the technology learned to tell them apart. Probably more accurate than me and you. - Seattle's Amazon Executive

What about the jobs that people will lose, what will all the high school students do now?
There are protesters in front of the store for the same reason, however, Amazon is promoting manual work , even though there is no need for cashiers to take payments, Amazon Go does employ workers. Some prepare food, while others refill product supplies and assist customers. Associates work in both the kitchen and the store to prepare ingredients, make ready-to- eat food, stock shelves, and help customers.

How big is the store?
Their store is roughly 1,800 square feet of retail space is conveniently compact so busy customers can get in and out fast.

You must be wondering, are there any Amazon exclusives here too?

Yes!! They offer delicious ready-to- eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snack options made by their chefs and favorite local kitchens and bakeries. The selection of grocery essentials ranges from staples like bread and milk to artisan cheeses and locally made chocolates. For a quick home- cooked dinner, pick up one of their chef-designed Amazon Meal Kits, with all the ingredients you need to make a meal for two in about 30 minutes.

Why Amazon go?
"We asked ourselves: what if we could create a shopping experience with no lines and no checkout? Could we push the boundaries of computer vision and machine learning to create a store where customers could simply take what they want and go? Our answer to those questions is Amazon Go and Just Walk Out Shopping" added the American company.
